IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Chapman State Park’s 68-acre Chapman Lake will be drawn down two feet beginning Monday, September 8. Park staff with the assistance of US Forest Service and Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission personnel will be working on a shoreline erosion and stabilization project. Park Manager, Ryan Borcz said, “The planned shoreline work will enhance shoreline fishing opportunities and improve boat launch access”. During the draw down period, canoes and kayaks may be launched from the boat launch/mooring area but paddlers are warned that sediment and decaying vegetation may make for an unpleasant experience. Re-establishment of normal lake pool will begin immediately following the projects mid-October completion and will be dependant on rainfall amounts. For more information, contact the park office at (814) 723-0250 or visit our home page at www.dcnr.state.pa.us.
