Back in the fall of 2006, I came up with the idea to build a website, featuring hunting, fishing, and outdoor recreation in Warren County. So, I bought a domain, learned some HTML code, took a lot of pictures, started to work on it, and WarrenPa.ws was born.
It was tough. Trying to organize pages and figure out just where to put everything, not to mention the fact that I was limited to 10 pages for my website. With all the information, that made for some really long pages.
Well, in January of 2008, I responded to an ad placed by the Rev. Don Wells. He was looking for someone to help build a website for the Starbrick Community Church. After lots of picture taking, and a couple days learning new software, the Amish Outlet and Crafts website was up and running. It was at this point, that I decided that I should consider going into the business of building websites, at least part-time.
But, there were lots of variables to consider. How much should I charge, to be competitive, yet still make it worthwhile? After a little thought, I decided that rather than trying to get rich by building websites, it would be better to undercut everyone else in the price to build websites, and make residual income by hosting those sites at similar rates to everyone else.
After a couple of days (literally) of searching hosting providers, I settled on The Prime Host. There were lots of providers out there, but they offered the best rates, with the features I wanted. A few days later, Darr Web Solutions was born.
Well, now that I had a hosting program, better software, and unlimited pages, I decided that it was time to do better than WarrenPa.ws. I purchased the domain, WarrenPa.net, and started transferring the content. Well, to make a long story short, I decided that rather keeping the narrow theme of hunting, fishing, and outdoor recreation, that I should expand the new site into a complete community website.
So far, so good, but I still have a long way to go. There's still lots of information to be discovered and added to the site... probably more than I can ever come up with by myself, in the limited time that I have to devote to it.
For all you budding authors and photographers out there, if there's something you feel should be added, please feel free to submit your original work. We do not pay for submissions, but you will receive full credit for any work that we publish.
